Apostle Pierre Bennett found God’s calling on his life in 1999, when he was called to pastor God’s people. As the founder of God’s Luv International Ministries Church, Apostle Pierre Bennett now works to assist others to find a deeper faith and walk with God.
In a recent sermon, Apostle Pierre Bennett quotes from Judges 16:1, where Samson stayed with a prostitute. He knew the Philistines were waiting for him because he had killed thirty of their people, Apostle Pierre Bennett recalls, but he continued to lay low until midnight.
Then, relates Apostle Pierre Bennett, Samson picked up the gates to the city and two gateposts, carrying them up the hill. As Apostle Pierre Bennett points out, the top of that hill was likely at least forty miles, but he walked all that way carrying the weight of the gates. It was Samson’s way of showing how strong he was, Apostle Pierre Bennett believes. He was showing he was superhuman.
Apostle Pierre Bennett points to times when we feel so elevated in our faith that we want to show off to others. We want to show them how awesome we are because of our faith. It’s true, isn’t it? When people of faith are honest with themselves, they’ll admit that there are times when they use their power to elevate themselves above someone who is annoying them.
According to Apostle Pierre Bennett, the mistake is in making it personal. It’s not personal, Apostle Pierre Bennett emphasizes. In reality, everything we do is spiritual and these shows of strength are simply our version of getting in the way of God’s fight. Apostle Pierre Bennett advises stepping aside and letting God take care of things. When we do that, we never have to fight at all and we avoid the sin of pride.
As an example, Apostle Pierre Bennett talks about the times people come to him for advice. Instead of listening, however, Apostle Pierre Bennett says that they begin defending the reasons they didn’t do what God wanted them to do. Instead of getting caught up in all of this emotional drama, he simply offers to pray with them and counsel them.
It’s not his business, Apostle Pierre Bennett says. Those issues are between the person and God. It is up to the individual person to square that away with God. All Apostle Pierre Bennett can do is help the person process it, and encourage them to listen to what God says.
